Jenna Bush Hager, who had frequently filled in for Gifford, ultimately became her permanent replacement.
Kathie Lee’s decision to leave Today was deeply influenced by personal circumstances. The passing of her husband in 2015 left an indelible mark on her life. During an appearance on The Tonight Show, she shared her perspective on life after her husband’s death.
“After my husband passed, I realized that life is too short,” Gifford revealed to Jimmy Fallon. ”
He didn’t know that morning he was running out of time. And then my mom passed, as well. It made me realize that I have the time and means to pursue my dreams.”
Since bidding farewell to the NBC morning show, Kathie Lee Gifford has embarked on new adventures in Nashville. This vibrant city has provided her with the space and inspiration to work on various projects close to her heart.
